At the end of 2016, East & Concord Partners established its Hangzhou Office after careful preparations. This is fifth office following Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Wuhan. Coming to Hangzhou is a strategic move of East & Concord with an aim to complete its deployment in the Yangtze River Delta. When everything was ready and in the best shape, the new office opened in this ancient city of Hangzhou.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, law-based governance of the country witnessed rapid progress. A total of 16 new laws have been formulated for comprehensive deepening of the reform, 33 decisions issued to make amendments, and 12 resolutions adopted on important issues. The reform of the judicial system, as a major move to fully promote law-based governance, has improved the system safeguarding the rights of practicing lawyers and the judicial accountability system. To attain the goal of law-based governance, lawyers are bound to play important roles. As law-based governance is promoted across the country, legal services now see blue ocean market segments after integration and exploration.

Good Location: In the New Economic and Political Center of Hangzhou

Our Hangzhou Office is located in Hangzhou CBD, the new economic and political center of Hangzhou. Up on the 29th floor of Hongcheng International Plaza, the office looks out to rivers on three sides and has a perfect view. On its right stand the International Convention Center and Hangzhou Grand Theater, having in front of it the grand view of the “sun” and “moon” shining together. Across the river is the main venue of the G20 summit, grandiose yet full of the charm unique to Jiangnan. On the left, the Hangzhou CBD Century Garden presents great scenery to relieve people from the heavy pressure of fast-paced jobs.  

After hosting the G20 summit in 2016, Hangzhou CBD has become a new calling card of Hangzhou. The CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government have both moved here. Financial institutions also gather here, including branches of many major banks, securities companies, insurance companies, and financial service providers. The area is growing towards a new advanced business park where the headquarters, regional headquarters, and office of global companies gather. Its economic and cultural influence will soon reach out to the entire eastern coast of China.

In 2022, Hangzhou will host the Asian Games and the main venue will be just opposite to our new office. This area is bound to continue to attract attention from all over the world.

East & Concord’s leaders Li Dajin, Zhou Qi, Yao Yi, Wang Hong, and Wang Dong have all paid multiple visits to Hangzhou to discuss with the local team issues about the launch of this new office. They have also exchanged opinions with officials from the district government concerning relevant issues. Thanks to the strong support from our partners and the concerted efforts of the Hangzhou team, the Hangzhou office is now fully on track, with the office space fully ready and the whole team in place.

When you have cultivated the phoenix tree, the phoenix will naturally come. The Hangzhou Office has carried out multiple rounds of recruitment and hired 33 people after strict examination, including partners, consultants, legal affairs staff, assistants, and administrative personnel. Among them, the partners, consultants, and legal affairs staff are all graduates of renowned law schools or previous employees of large law firms. Our Hangzhou team is made up of people who have dreams, enthusiasm, social responsibility, and professionalism. They come together for shared faith and will forge ahead with concerted efforts.

The decoration of the Hangzhou Office stays perfectly in line with the style of our Head Office in Beijing but it also has local features.
