For the past year, “East & Concord Partners Education Fund” organized many events in cooperation with Wuhan University School of Law and assisted the University in participating in the 14th Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot and becoming one of the top eight delegations. It was the best performance to date for Wuhan University delegation in a moot competition.
From March 27 to April 2, 2017, the 14th Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot (hereinafter referred to as “Vis (East) Moot”) was held in Hong Kong. Wuhan University delegation performed excellently and stood out from 125 delegations from different countries. After fierce competition in a 4-day round-robin competition, it rose in ranks to the top 32 delegations, and eliminated traditionally strong delegations of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Humboldt—Universitat zu Berlin in the subsequent elimination competition, and made it into the top 8 delegations. It was also the best performance of all Chinese delegations to the 14th Vis (East) Moot.
“East & Concord Education Fund” generously supported this Vis (East) Moot, and subsidized the delegation for the competition trip. The excellent performance of the delegates demonstrates the result of joint cultivation of high-end legal talents by East & Concord and Wuhan University Law School.
Vis Moot, jointly held by United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators(CIArb), is the only moot competition held by a UN agency worldwide. It attracted 125 universities from different countries, including Harvard University, Yale University, National University of Singapore and University of Freiburg. Delegations of universities from Mainland China included Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and the University of International Business and Economics.
