On March 21, 2018, East & Concord Partners joined hands with China Corporate Legal Affairs Alliance and LexisNexis to hold “Disenchantment Blockchain” Legal Forum in the headquarters of East & Concord Partners at Beijing Landmark Hotel. The forum enabled online and offline participation, and attracted over 200 senior executives of enterprises, general legal directors, legal affairs managers, and media friends.
The forum was chaired by Jennifer Zhang, partner of East & Concord Partners. Xing Dongmei, member of East & Concord Partners Management Committee, Xie Pinda, founder of China Corporate Legal Affairs Alliance, Zheng Yun, client manager of LexisNexis, delivered short messages, respectively. Prof. Deng Jianpeng, vice president of China Academy of Internet Financial Innovations, delivered a keynote speech on “Legal Issues and Risks of the Blockchain.”
Prof. Deng first made a brief introduction to the definition and characteristics of blockchain. Then he made a systematic and comprehensive explanation on “BitCoin-related legal issues and risks,” “smart contract-related legal issues and risks,” “ICO and Token legal issues and risks,” “problems, status quo and trend of supervision” and “what lawyers can do.”
